Your Petco Grooming Career:

Start as a Junior Pet Stylist in Grooming! During a ten-week training program, you will learn grooming basics such as bathing, drying, nail trimming, and more, gaining hands-on experience with guidance from seasoned groomers. Purpose:

The primary goal of the Junior Pet Stylist is to learn and perform grooming services such as bathing, drying, brushing, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning, always prioritizing pet safety and comfort. This role is ideal for animal lovers interested in starting a career in pet grooming.

Essential Job Functions:

• Perform grooming tasks under supervision, including bathing, drying, nail trimming, brushing, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning, following pet owners' instructions and company policies
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all animals in the salon
• Provide professional customer service, address inquiries, and resolve issues promptly
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the grooming area and tools
• Manage grooming appointments, paperwork, and records
• Follow grooming policies and standards to ensure safety, quality, and consistency

Training Program Outline:

• Weeks 1-3: Learning and on-the-job training in dog behavior, safety, check-in/out procedures, customer service, grooming policies, bathing, and drying techniques
• Weeks 4-10: Performing grooming services and achieving productivity goals

Education/Experience:

• 0-1 year animal-related experience preferred, including shelter volunteering or pet sitting
• High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required
• Passion for animals and an interest in grooming
• Basic knowledge of dog breeds, behavior, and grooming practices
• Ability to handle pets of all sizes and temperaments with care and empathy
• Effective communication skills for interacting with pet owners and team members
• Availability for weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed

The role involves indoor work in a noisy, wet environment, requiring bending, kneeling, lifting up to 30 pounds, and standing for long periods. Some tasks may involve heights and support tools. Significant time is spent in contact with pets and pet owners.
