Job summary

Peraton in Herndon, VA is seeking a junior software engineer to contribute to full-stack features in an Agile DevSecOps environment. You’ll fix bugs, ship enhancements, and learn best practices while collaborating with modern cloud, data, and messaging technologies.

You’ll work with product owners, UX, QA, and fellow engineers, documenting technical work in Confluence and tracking tasks in Jira to ensure high-quality, secure solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field with 2+ years of related experience or a Master's with related experience.
• Active TS/SCI with polygraph is required.
• Experience with two or more of: Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript; REST/JSON fundamentals; Docker.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and basic Git usage.

Responsibilities

• Build and deliver software in sprints: design, develop, test, document, and integrate features across front-end and back-end services.
• Apply Agile engineering practices: backlog grooming, sprint planning, standups, demos, and retros.
• Support DevSecOps workflows: Git-based workflows, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and deployment to production.
• Automate testing: unit/integration tests and simple scripts to improve quality and repeatability.
• Analyze legacy components and migrate to modern stacks and microservices.
