Job summary

Dewberry is seeking an Entry Level Fire Protection/Plumbing Designer for its Raleigh, NC office. The role involves assisting with fire protection and plumbing system design, drawings, specs, and discipline coordination on healthcare, industrial and mission critical projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of science in architectural engineering or mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited university.
• 0-2 years of experience.
• Strong communication and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
• Ability to coordinate the work of multiple disciplines.
• Prepare engineering calculations, reports, drawings and specifications, project schedules, and cost estimates.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit; good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Valid driver’s license and background check is required.

Responsibilities

• Work with a project team and assist in the design of fire protection and plumbing systems.
• Field verification of existing systems, available space, clearances, etc.
• Load calculations, hydraulic calculations, sizing and selecting equipment, piping design, and editing of specifications.
• Prepare design documents using AutoCAD and/or Revit software in accordance with Dewberry standards.
• Assist project engineer on reports, calculations, computer simulations, and design of fire protection and plumbing systems.
• Arrange for in-house quality review to ensure client needs are met.
• Coordinate among all disciplines involved, including outside consultants.
• Conduct construction site inspections, obtain as-built drawings, and closeout materials from contractors.
