This early-career role offers hands-on experience with quantity takeoffs, pricing, subcontractor solicitation, and bid preparation, collaborating with project managers and senior estimators to ensure pricing integrity and timely bids.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Experience in construction estimating, project engineering, field engineering, or a related heavy civil environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform quantity takeoffs from plans, specifications, and other contract documents.
• Assist in developing cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and temporary works.
• Review project drawings, geotechnical reports, specifications, and bid requirements.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Maintain and update historical cost databases and estimating records.
• Support the preparation of bid packages, proposals, and estimate summaries.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs as required.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, superintendents, and senior estimators to validate construction methods and pricing assumptions.
• Assist with risk analysis, value engineering opportunities, and scope reviews.
• Organize and maintain bid documents, correspondence, and estimate files.
• Help prepare conceptual, budgetary, and detailed estimates for ongoing and future projects.
• Ensure estimates comply with company standards, client requirements, and project schedules.
