Standard Construction Co. in Memphis, TN is seeking a Junior Estimator to support the Chief Estimator. This entry-level to early-career role focuses on preparing accurate cost estimates for heavy civil, asphalt, aggregates, and construction projects.

You will engage in bid preparation, quantity takeoffs, proposal development, vendor coordination, and cost analysis, working with operations, project management, and business development teams to pursue successful projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a construction-related field.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience interpreting drawings and specifications, or willingness to learn.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chief Estimator in preparing detailed cost estimates and bid proposals for construction projects.
• Review project plans and specs to identify scope, risks, and requirements.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor cost estimates.
• Solicit and track pricing from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Maintain estimating databases, historical cost information, and bid documentation.
• Prepare bid packages, proposals, and supporting project documentation.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project reviews as directed.
• Support post-bid analysis and lessons learned for continuous improvement.
• Coordinate with operations and project management to gather project information.
