Job summary

B&S Site Development in Manassas, VA is seeking a motivated Junior Estimator to join our preconstruction team. This early‑career role supports the estimating team in preparing competitive bids, analyzing project documents, performing quantity takeoffs, and coordinating with operations to ensure accurate project pricing.

Ideal candidates have 1–5 years in civil construction, a degree in Civil Engineering or related field, and strong analytical skills.

Qualifications

• 1-5 years of estimating, field engineering, project engineering, construction management, or related heavy civil construction experience.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Review plans and bid documents to prepare estimates.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for earthwork, utilities, grading, and paving.
• Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates, budgets, and bid proposals.
• Use estimating software and spreadsheets to develop pricing models and track costs.
• Support senior estimators in subcontractor and vendor solicitation efforts.
• Analyze labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor costs.
• Coordinate with project managers, field operations, and business development teams during bidding.
• Assist in identifying project risks, opportunities, and value engineering solutions.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project handoff meetings.
• Maintain bid files, historical cost data, and estimating databases.
• Help evaluate actual project costs against estimate assumptions for continuous improvement.
• Ensure all bids comply with company standards, client requirements, and deadlines.

Position Summary

B&S Site Development is seeking a motivated Junior Estimator to join our growing preconstruction team. This role is ideal for an early‑career professional with 1-5 years of experience in civil construction, site development, earthwork, utilities, grading, and related infrastructure projects. The Junior Estimator will support the estimating team in preparing competitive bids, analyzing project documents, performing quantity takeoffs, and coordinating with operations teams to ensure accurate project pricing.

A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is preferred. Experience with AGTEK software is highly desired but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a desire to build a career in heavy civil construction.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates, budgets, and bid proposals.
• Utilize estimating software and spreadsheets to develop pricing models and track costs.

• Knowledge of site development, excavation, grading, underground utilities, paving, and heavy civil construction.
• Internship or prior experience with a site contractor, heavy civil contractor, or engineering firm.
