Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking a Senior Environmental Transactions Attorney at the senior associate or junior partner level to join its Environmental Transactions practice. This role centers on handling environmental matters tied to a wide range of corporate and financing transactions, with a particular focus on the energy sector. The position offers the opportunity to lead critical aspects of deal work, advise on compliance strategy, and work at the intersection of transactional and regulatory law.

Duties:

Oversee environmental due diligence in connection with M&A and financing transactions

Draft and negotiate environmental provisions in transaction and financing agreements

Prepare environmental disclosure content for SEC filings and public company documents

Conduct legal research on complex environmental and energy regulatory issues

Advise clients on environmental compliance, permitting, and restructuring risks

Collaborate with deal teams and regulatory counsel on integrated transaction strategies

Requirements:

6–8 years of experience practicing environmental and energy law

Direct experience managing environmental aspects of corporate transactions

Strong knowledge of federal and state environmental statutes (e.g., CERCLA, RCRA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act)

Familiarity with energy sector regulatory frameworks and evolving ESG-related disclosure rules

Proven ability to independently manage deal components and advise clients at a senior level

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) from a top-tier, accredited law school

Academic excellence required

Law school transcript must be provided upon request

Certifications:

Admission to the bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

Skills:

Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, particularly in transactional contexts

Strong understanding of environmental risk allocation in commercial contracts

Skilled in legal research, client communication, and regulatory strategy

Ability to lead projects, manage junior team members, and work across disciplines
