Job summary

Dewberry in Danville, VA is seeking an Entry Level Environmental Scientist to support field groundwater sampling, reporting, wetland delineation, and permitting for VA and NC projects. You’ll work under project managers, perform data collection, analyze samples, and help prepare technical documents.

This role offers exposure to site investigations, regulatory guidance, and a path to develop technical skills in environmental sciences, data management, and client communication, with supervision

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Environmental Science or Geology
• 0 - 3 years of related experience, a plus
• Knowledge of Virginia DEQ, North Carolina DENR and US Army Corps of Engineers regulations and guidance a plus
• Knowledge of DEQ site remediation requirements a plus
• Knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access and Adobe Acrobat
• Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation and/or ArcGIS a plus

Responsibilities

• Responsible for field sampling and contractor oversight at locations in VA and NC
• Meets project, client, and regulatory deadlines
• Works in a timely fashion to meet project budgets
• Communicates effectively with clients, coworkers, sub consultants, and county/agency review staff
• Composes technical reports, memorandums and other written communication such as email
• Handles multiple concurrent projects
• Supports Practice Leads and Management
• Other duties as required
