Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in Los Angeles-area El Segundo, CA is seeking a Junior Electromechanical Controls Engineer (Associate Member of Technical Staff - GNC) to plan and conduct technical studies supporting customer programs. The role focuses on control systems, sensors, actuators, and electronic/mechanical design for spacecraft and launch vehicles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering (conferred within last 12 months).
• 0-1 year industry experience.
• Proficiency in lab experimentation, test strategy development, and integration and testing.
• Experience with electronics, mechanical design, control systems, inertial sensors, and actuators applicable to spacecraft and/or launch vehicles.
• Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, dSPACE, LabVIEW, SolidWorks, C/C++, Python.
• Willingness to travel ~10% and ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance; U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct technical studies involving analysis, simulation, evaluation, or testing of control systems.
• Verifying contractor designs, approaches, and overall system performance.
• Performing experimental investigations in the Mechatronics Research Laboratory and other Aerospace labs.
• Supporting multiple programs and communicating results to internal and external customers and stakeholders as a technical authority.
• Communicating both orally and in writing with higher management, program offices, customers, contractors, and colleagues.
