Job summary

Peraton Labs is seeking a highly analytical Junior Electrical Engineer to map electrical designs, analyze signals, and quantify RF characteristics. You will produce thorough reports translating complex data into clear customer-ready insights.

Ideal candidates are recent graduates with hands-on lab experience using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators, and with familiarity in SPI/I2C/UART and RF fundamentals.

Qualifications

• US citizen with active Top-Secret clearance able to obtain TS/SCI
• B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field; no postgraduate experience required
• Proficiency in interpreting and understanding electronic schematics
• Solid understanding of electronic components and their functions, with emphasis on analyzing electronic circuits
• Hands-on experience with laboratory benchtop equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators) from academic projects or internships
• Foundational understanding of RF communications
• Experience with SPI, I2C, UART bus protocols
• Capable of basic RF measurements (e.g., occupied bandwidth, average power) using standard test equipment
• Ability to write complex technical reports

Responsibilities

• Characterize and document electronic systems: research circuit components, create detailed schematics, and perform lab tests to understand circuit functions and device purpose
• Analyze communication bus protocols (SPI, I2C, UART) to understand data flow within devices
• Characterize RF signals: measure and analyze RF signals to identify basic modulation schemes, operating frequencies, and power levels
• Decode modulation: support analysis and decoding of RF modulation types to extract data
• Contribute to technical reports: integrate characterization data into clear reports and briefings for customers
• Research emerging technologies and analytical techniques
• Collaborate with engineers and subject matter experts to solve challenging problems
