Job summary

Salas O’Brien, Inc. in Vista, CA, is seeking an Electrical Designer with 2–3 years of consulting engineering experience. You will support the design of electrical systems for educational, healthcare, and commercial facilities, and develop construction documents under the guidance of senior engineers.

The role requires proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit, plus strong communication skills. It offers a hybrid work model in Vista (first three months in the office) and a competitive benefits package

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of electrical design experience within a consulting engineering, architectural/engineering, or building systems design environment.
• Experience preparing construction documents for building-related projects.
• Working knowledge of normal and emergency power distribution systems, electrical load calculations, grounding and bonding systems, lighting design and photometric calculations, NEC/NFPA 70, California code requirements and energy standards.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and working knowledge of Revit.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Word).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of electrical systems for a range of facilities.
• Prepare electrical plans, one-line diagrams, panel schedules, and construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Perform load calculations and conductor sizing under supervision of senior engineers.
• Coordinate designs with architectural, structural, mechanical, and other disciplines.
• Support construction administration activities including submittal reviews and RFIs.
