Job summary

Salas O’Brien, Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Designer to support electrical design projects and produce construction drawings and specifications in a variety of sectors.

The role covers power, lighting, fire alarm, systems, and diagrams, with opportunity to lead disciplines on diverse projects. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in electrical design, strong NEC and energy code knowledge, and proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Associates Degree with adequate drafting experience or a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in electrical design including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, systems, and grounding plans.
• Proficiency in using engineering tools and software: Revit, AutoCAD and lighting design software; strong knowledge of NEC, Codes, and energy codes.

Responsibilities

• Participating in the design effort on large and small projects.
• Coordination with engineering and other disciplines on the project team.
• Ability to provide calculations including lighting, voltage drop, and load calculations.
• Ability to lead discipline design.
• Follow company standards in creation of electrical drawings.
• Provide field support including field verifications for retrofit applications, as-built documentation, and construction administration.
• From Project scope, develop electrical construction drawings (i.e. exterior lighting, interior lighting, power plans, systems plans, fire alarm system plans, grounding systems, details, single lines/riser diagrams and panel schedules).
• Willingness to travel for projects.
