Job summary

The North Carolina District Attorney's Office, District 27 in Rowan County, seeks an entry-level Assistant District Attorney to prosecute criminal cases and support courtroom operations.

Duties include screening cases, researching law, preparing for trial, filing motions, organizing work, meeting deadlines, and speaking with victims. Strong interest in trial work and July bar eligibility are encouraged. JD with NC bar preferred.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school and an active license to practice in North Carolina.
• Candidates who passed the July bar exam are strongly encouraged to apply.
• Résumé not accepted in lieu of a fully completed application.

Responsibilities

• Prosecute criminal cases in district and potentially superior court.
• Screen incoming cases to identify strengths and weaknesses and plan strategy.
• Research case law, prepare and file motions, and organize case work for trial.
• Meet deadlines, follow up on assignments, and interview witnesses.
• Meet with victims of crime and deliver opening statements, examinations, and objections as needed.
