Job summary

WSP is seeking an Early Career Distribution Mechanical Engineer for our Birmingham, Alabama office. The role involves assisting with design, development, testing, and inspection of mechanical systems for infrastructure projects in public and private sectors.

You will support data collection, analysis, and documentation, while learning to apply codes, standards, and safety policies. Relocation is not offered; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 0 to 1 years of post-education experience.
• Familiarity with design/build concepts.
• Knowledge of mechanical systems, codes, regulations and permits.
• Proficient technical writing and office software.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and CAM.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze data from site, surveys, blueprints, schematics and reports for project development and design.
• Assist with evaluations of proposed and existing site conditions and conformance with rules and permits.
• Provide entry-level technical assistance on design requirements, load calculations, and operating strategies.
• Verify site characteristics and provide basic technical assistance on engineering issues.
• Create complete, accurate documentation and specifications from drawings and field notes.
• Follow safety guidelines and site procedures.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Adhere to company policies and ethical standards.
• Take on additional responsibilities as needed.
