Job summary

MOD is seeking a Front-End Web Developer contract role in Philadelphia. You will build and maintain front-end features with Next.js and React Native for web, while supporting CMS content in Directus and WordPress. Basic PHP for backend tasks, plus Laravel if available, will be a plus.

You will collaborate with design and product stakeholders, ensuring responsive, accessible interfaces, and clean code. Strong Git workflow, HTML/CSS/JS mastery, and proactive collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Next.js (no exceptions).
• Proficiency in React Native for web.
• Familiarity with basic PHP for back-end tasks.
• Experience with CMS platforms (Directus, WordPress).
• Experience with version control systems (Git, GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket).
• Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript best practices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and in teams.
• Preferred: Laravel framework.
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs or GraphQL.
• Basic SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP).

In this role, you’ll collaborate with senior developers, designers, and product stakeholders to create and maintain reliable, performant web experiences. You’ll utilize React Native in a web context, paired with Next.js, to build out front-end features, while leveraging basic PHP skills to support our backend. Knowledge of the Laravel framework is a huge bonus but not required.

What You Will Do…

Front-End Web Development

• Implement and maintain front-end features using React Native for web and Next.js
• Collaborate with designers to ensure responsive, user-friendly interfaces
• Build and manage content-driven features within Directus and WordPress
• Troubleshoot and optimize application performance on the front end

CMS Management & Schema Design

• Edit and add new content within CMS platforms (Directus, WordPress) to keep sites current and engaging
• Help design and maintain CMS schemas to support evolving business requirements
• Ensure best practices for content organization, workflow, and governance

Back-End Support

• Use basic PHP for server-side logic, API integrations, and minor database tasks
• (Bonus) Contribute to projects using the Laravel framework
• Assist in code reviews and ensure best practices are followed for server-side applications

Collaboration & Communication

• Work closely with cross-functional teams (design, product, QA) to align requirements with technical solutions
• Participate in daily stand-ups and sprint planning to stay on track with project goals
• Provide and receive feedback in a constructive, supportive manner

Quality Assurance & Deployment

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
• Assist in debugging and troubleshooting production issues
• Support continuous integration and deployment processes

YOUR CREDENTIALS
