Job summary

The N.C. Department of Information Technology is seeking an Entry‑Level Database Administrator I to support SQL Server, Oracle, and cloud/on‑prem databases.

Under supervision, you will gain hands‑on experience in maintenance, monitoring, backup/recovery, security, and troubleshooting to ensure reliability and availability of hybrid data systems. Ideal candidates have 1–2 years with Oracle/SQL and knowledge of cloud providers; a related degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or IT field, or an equivalent combination with 1 year of related experience.
• Associate degree in CS/IT and 2 years of related programming and database experience.
• High School/GED with 5 years of programming and database analysis experience.
• 1–2 years of experience with Oracle and SQL; knowledge of cloud providers.

Responsibilities

• Assist with maintenance, monitoring and administration of database environments.
• Gain hands-on experience in backup and recovery, security, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with senior DBAs and internal/external customers.
