Job summary

ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company, is seeking a Junior Database Administrator to support the reliability and security of enterprise databases under the guidance of senior staff. You will assist with monitoring, backups, patching, performance tuning, and issue resolution to ensure responsive data access for mission-critical systems in a regulated government environment.

This entry-level role requires a BA/BS and up to 3 years of experience, with familiarity in Oracle, SQL

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in CS/IT.
• 0–3 years of hands-on DBA experience.
• Experience with Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
• Understanding of normalization, indexing, and query optimization.
• Familiarity with database security, backups, DR concepts.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to travel <10%.
• Active SECRET clearance and ability to maintain clearance.
• Security+ or DoD IAT-II certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day administration of relational database platforms (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Monitor database health and performance metrics; escalate complex issues to senior DBAs.
• Execute and validate scheduled backups; support disaster recovery testing.
• Implement standard security controls (RBAC, provisioning, auditing) in line with policies.
• Participate in installation, patching, and minor upgrades across environments.
• Troubleshoot connectivity issues with application and data teams.
• Apply foundational knowledge of normalization, indexing, and query plans to support optimization.
• Maintain documentation for configurations, SOPs, and change records for compliance.
