Elucidate AI is seeking a Junior Data Scientist in Johannesburg with remote and hybrid options. The role focuses on turning microfinance data into actionable business insights through analytics, ML, and statistical modeling.

You will communicate results to executive stakeholders and contribute to product development. The position requires an honours degree in a STEM field and at least one year of client-facing analytics experience, with Python and visualization experience.

Qualifications

• Honours-level degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, or another STEM discipline.
• At least one year of experience presenting analytics to business teams in a client-facing setting.
• At least one year of experience performing analysis, producing findings, and implementing improvements.
• Fundamental understanding of machine learning and statistics.
• Experience working with data in Python; PySpark is a plus.
• Experience with data visualization and clear communication with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Analyze microfinance data and translate findings into business recommendations.
• Present analytical results and recommendations to executive teams.
• Help implement recommendations and assess their performance.
• Design, build, and deploy machine learning models and statistical optimizations.
• Assess product ideas, define MVP scope, and contribute to technical development.
• Work with data engineering and data science teams on departmental planning and execution.
