LS Technologies, a Tetra Tech Company, seeks a Junior Data Scientist to support data collection, processing, management, analysis, and visualization for the FAA. The ideal candidate has basic Power BI, Python, and SQL skills and thrives in a collaborative, matrix-managed environment.

Responsibilities include collecting, cleaning, storing, and visualizing data with Power BI; ETL workflow support; Python/SQL data processing; data preparation for Dataverse; and creating reports to drive decisions.

Job Description

LS Technologies is seeking a Junior Data Scientist to support data collection, processing, management, analysis, and visualization activities for the Federal Aviation Administration. The ideal candidate will have basic experience with Power BI, Python, and SQL and be comfortable working in a collaborative, matrix-managed environment.

Salary is based on relevant years of experience:

$60,000 - $70,000

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Collect, clean, store, analyze, and visualize data using tools such as Microsoft Power BI.
• Support the automation of resident data collection through ETL processes.
• Use Python and SQL to process data, perform queries, and ensure data accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare data for integration with Microsoft Dataverse.
• Maintain data infrastructure in accordance with data governance and security requirements.
• Create reports and dashboards that support operational and strategic decision-making.

Communicate proactively with team members and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

A successful candidate will have

• Bachelor’s degree in physical sciences, computer engineering, information technology, computer science, or a related field.
• Zero to two (0–2) years of experience in data analysis, data management, or a related area.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI through coursework, certification, or professional experience.
• Basic knowledge of Python and SQL.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Ability to work effectively in a matrix-managed environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Tableau or Microsoft Power BI dashboard development.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure cloud services.
• Experience using Python and SQL for data processing and analysis.

• Position is: Hybrid (3 days in office)

• Background check: Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Physical Requirements

Extended Computer Use: Regular and prolonged periods of working at a computer terminal.

• Mobility: Ability to move around the office environment to access computer hardware, networking equipment, and server rooms.
• Dexterity: Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate computer equipment, troubleshoot issues, and perform tasks requiring precision.
• Sitting/Standing: Both prolonged sitting and occasional standing may be required for troubleshooting and attending to system issues.

Primarily computer-based work; meetings or collaboration may be required.

Compensation (Pay Bands)

Salary at LST is determined by a wide array of factors, such as (but not limited to) education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.

The projected compensation range for this position is provided within the posting and is based on full-time, 40 hour/week status. Part-time staff receive compensation at an hourly rate. The estimated minimum and maximum displayed represents the broadest range for this position (inclusive of high geographic and high clearance requirements) and is just one component of LSTs total compensation package for employees.

In compliance with local laws, LS Technologies presents this reasonable compensation range as a guideline for roles in California, Colorado, New York, or Washington D.C.
