Job summary

SWBC invites a Junior Data Engineer to join our Data team in San Antonio, helping design and maintain data pipelines that feed analytics, ML, and AI workloads. You will work with cloud-native data warehouses (Snowflake/Redshift), collaborate with data scientists and engineers, and apply best practices in data quality, governance, and observability while growing your skills in modern data tooling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field.
• 1+ year of experience with modern data warehousing practices.
• Advanced SQL and experience with Snowflake/Redshift or similar.
• Hands-on experience building cloud-based data pipelines.
• Experience with orchestration tools like Airflow or AWS Step Functions.
• Strong data modeling, ELT/ETL, and data quality knowledge.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala for data transformation.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines for analytics, ML, and AI workloads.
• Build cloud-native data architectures (data warehouse, lakehouse, streaming).
• Implement ingestion and ELT pipelines using Openflow, Snowpipe-like services, and DBT.
• Collaborate with data scientists and stakeholders to understand data needs.
• Develop AI-ready datasets, feature tables, and time-aware data for training.
• Enforce data quality, validation, and observability across pipelines.
• Shape enterprise-scale data models and schemas for analytics.
• Optimize pipelines for performance, reliability, and cost.
