Job summary

cb5 Solutions LLC is hiring a Jr Data Center Engineer to join our operations team in support of a US DoW/DoD agency. You will manage data center operations, monitoring, and maintenance, ensuring compliance with TIA-942 and SOPs.

Qualifications include 6+ months of related experience and an active DoW Secret Clearance. Remedy experience is a plus, and DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan data center expansion including rack layouts.

• Serve as POC for projects affecting Data Centers.
• Maintain knowledge of electrical and mechanical data center systems.
• Coordinate with DoW/DoD customers and provide operational support.
• Maintain access control lists and OEO support.
• Assist in Change and Asset Management.

We are seeking a Jr Data Center Engineer to serve as a member of the operations team.

Key Responsibilities

As the Jr Data Center Engineer:

• The Jr Data Center Engineer supports a US DoW/DoD agency
• Be responsible for the operations, maintenance, and monitoring of the Data Center and supporting infrastructure, including drawings schematics of the center to detail what equipment is installed.
• Be responsible for oversight and management ensuring compliance with TIA-942 specifications and IT Mission Support Facilities design guidelines and ensuring Operations Management functions are executed IAW established standards and SOPs (backup schedules, authorized maintenance activities, configuration freeze control/Mission Assurance).
• Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in the facility when infrastructure systems, such, electrical and mechanical exhibit out of threshold conditions.
• Prepare plans and documents related to the data center expansion and additions, including rack layouts and elevations.
• Have administrative duties that include planning for capacity changes, and ensure compliance with government regulations and operation requirements
• Be assigned as the point of contact for all projects impacting Data Centers.
• Be responsible for having a general Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment, including Feeders, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units, Chillers, Air handling units and CRAC units.
• Be responsible for customer care support and might include escorting personnel through the data center on tours and coordinating with other organizations.
• Be responsible to mitigate risks of downtime and coordinate with DoW/DoD agency customers to offer support services for data and systems. Data Center Managers will research in order to identify trends in data centers and stay current with future innovation.
• Maintain the Data Center access control lists; coordinating with management and tenant points of contact in vetting future members, ongoing maintenance by adding and removing current user access.
• Provide Occupant Emergency Organization (OEO) support for the Data Center and attached work areas through the Block Captain Program. Duties include meetings with Emergency Management, maintenance of personnel rosters, and dissemination of safety information.
• Adhere to and assist in enforcing Information Technology Services Change, Change management and Asset Management best practices

Qualifications

• Must have 6, or more, months of directly related experience
• Must have, or obtain, an active DoW Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Have experience using Remedy software
• Have experience supporting a DoD customer
• Have a current DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II, or higher, Certification.
