You will work with senior analysts across multiple teams and present findings to state partners.

The role emphasizes SQL and Python/Pandas for data inspection, cleaning, and analysis of national datasets, government reports, and policy documents.

Qualifications

• 6+ months of practical experience exploring, analyzing, and cleaning real-world datasets.
• Proficiency in SQL with joins, aggregations, and window functions.
• Python/Pandas for data analysis and visualization.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with diverse partners.
• Experience working with government staff, researchers, journalists, and policy practitioners.
• Attention to detail and curiosity when investigating messy data.

Responsibilities

• Explore datasets to identify patterns and insights about American criminal justice systems.
• Carry out analyses with guidance from senior analysts and the State Engagement team.
• Support product launches by preparing analytical data for each state.
• Identify and flag data discrepancies during launch preparation.
• Create clear, well-documented visualizations and dashboards using existing tools.
• Communicate analytical findings to internal teams and state partners.
• Analyze trends to understand product function and measure impact on justice outcomes.
• Develop knowledge of state data, policies, and products to answer new questions independently.
