Description

Tyto Athene is searching for a Junior Cybersecurity Engineer to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.Positions are located both CONUS/OCONUS at the SOUTHCOM HQ in Doral, FL, and at the TSOC and other locations abroad (GTMO, Honduras, Colombia etc.).

The Junior Cybersecurity Engineer supports the implementation and maintenance of cybersecurity measures to safeguard DoD Networks, systems, and applications. This role focuses on vulnerability management, compliance monitoring, and assisting with security assessment under the supervision of senior cybersecurity staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the deployment and configuration of cybersecurity tools and technologies
  • Monitor and analyze network traffic and logs to identify potential security threats
  • Support the implementation of DISA STIGs and security patches across systems
  • Help conduct vulnerability scan using native tools
  • Assit with Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M) documentations and compliance reporting
  • Maintain documentation related to system security plans, incident response and access controls
  • Participate in internal security audits and readiness reviews
  • Collaborate with system administrators and developers to enforce security policies
  • Stay informed on current cybersecurity trends and threats relevant to DoD environments
Qualifications

Required:

  • Associate’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 0-3 years of experience in cybersecurity, systems administration, or information assurance roles
  • Familiarity with basic cybersecurity concepts, including CIA triad, access control and threat vectors
  • Understanding of operating systems (Windows/ Linux) and networking fundamentals
  • Ability to follow procedures and document work accuratley

Desired:

  • Internship or capstone project experience in a cybersecurity or IT operatiohns role
  • Exposure to security tools such Splunk, Wireshark, ACAS
  • Basic scripting knowledge
  • Familiarity with Risk Managment Framework processes
  • Vendor specific certifications (ACAS, Splunk)

Clearance:

  • TS/SCI clearance required

Certification:

  • DoD 8570 Baseline & CE certifications are required for all positions and may vary slightly depending on the skillset required to perform the role
  • CompTIA Security+ CE
  • Microsoft/Azure Fundamentals
