Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Jr Cyber Penetration Tester to join our Federal Strategic Cyber Group in Arlington, VA. This role supports the Red Cell team and performs assessments of security vulnerabilities across on-premises and cloud environments.

You will apply NIST/PTES methodologies and contribute to incident response efforts while developing automation tools. Local candidates with an active Secret clearance are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 1 year of related experience or 4 years in lieu of degree.
• Basic understanding of networking and security principles.
• Experience evaluating system security configurations.
• Familiarity with Web Application vulnerabilities: SQLi, XSS, CSRF, HTTP Flooding.
• Experience with penetration testing tools such as Metasploit, Burp Suite, Nmap, etc.
• Fundamentals of network routing and switching; assess network device configurations.
• Ability to evaluate findings and perform root cause analysis.
• Ability to work alone and/or in a small group.
• Possess or obtain one of the listed certifications before start date: CCNA Cyber Ops, CCNA-Security, CEH, CFR, Cloud+, CySA+, GCIA, GCIH, GICSP, or SCYBER.
• U.S. citizenship required and active Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Support the Penetration Testing (Red Cell) Team.
• Assess the current state of customer system security and identify vulnerabilities.
• Help customers analyze and mitigate security vulnerabilities.
• Perform and report on penetration testing of systems, including cloud, to satisfy security controls and standards.
• Stay informed about current attack vectors and exploitation methods.
• Provide incident response support through capability enhancement and reporting.
• Assist in maintaining Red Cell infrastructure.
• Develop or modify tools to automate discovery or exploitation (bash, Python, JavaScript, PowerShell).
