Job summary

Prince Industries LLC is seeking a Jr. Engineering Tech to prepare accurate cost estimates for contract machining projects.

The role blends engineering understanding with purchasing and production collaboration to price materials, labor, and external processes while ensuring profitability. The candidate will review RFQs, drawings and specs, use ERP (Epicor) and Excel to calculate costs, and participate in design reviews to optimize cost and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (or related field) or 2-year technical certification with equivalent related engineering or machining experience preferred but not required.
• Experience in engineering or related manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

• Review RFQs, drawings, and specs to define project scope and requirements.
• Calculate costs for materials, labor, and outside processes using ERP (Epicor) and Excel calculators.
• Prepare and submit cost estimates and quotations to stakeholders or clients.
• Work with purchasing to obtain updated material prices and lead times.
• Collaborate with engineering to improve design efficiency and reduce costs.
• Maintain precise records of estimates, assumptions, and historical data for future use.
• Join design reviews and pre-production meetings to confirm cost alignment.
• Monitor changes in material pricing and manufacturing technology advances.
• Evaluate updated customer prints to identify quote adjustments or manufacturing impacts.
• Ensure design intent and component quality can be achieved.
• Review sourcing of materials and suppliers to meet objectives and deadlines.
• Estimate mixtures of low and high-volume components and assemblies.
• Contacts customers to resolve technical issues as required.
