Job summary

Builders FirstSource is seeking an Estimator to analyze drawings, prepare material lists, and develop accurate cost estimates for bids and customer proposals. The role collaborates with Sales, Project Management, and vendors to ensure pricing reflects current data and available stock.

The ideal candidate will review blueprints, compute quantities, and use estimating software to support competitive bids. Prior experience in construction estimating and strong math skills are expected.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in construction technology preferred.
• 2–3 years of experience in building construction industry.
• Able to read blueprints and interpret drawings and selections sheets.

Responsibilities

• Receives information on materials required for pricing a job.
• Reviews blueprints and selections to identify details or issues; resolves with Project Manager or customer.
• Uses estimating software to determine linear and square footage for walls and components.
• Assists sales in providing material availability and substitutions.
• Maintains current pricing data and maximizes use of stock material.
• Calculates cost factors and prepares estimates for bids and vendor/subcontractor selection.
• Consults with clients and vendors on estimates and cost-saving opportunities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
