Job summary

KBR in Ohio is seeking a Junior Computer Engineer to support advanced communications and cyber research efforts. You will contribute to the design, development, integration, and evaluation of systems used to analyze modern communications technologies.

You will work with experienced engineers across hardware, software, networking, RF, and embedded technologies while building hands‑on experience with laboratory systems and prototype capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• 0-3 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Experience with networking concepts, network protocols, or distributed systems.
• Familiarity with hardware/software interfaces or system integration activities.
• Ability to conduct technical research and evaluate unfamiliar technologies.
• Experience using at least one programming or scripting language such as Python, C, C++, or a similar language.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of laboratory architectures for communications research, testing, and evaluation.
• Research communications technologies, hardware platforms, networking technologies, and related technical capabilities.
• Assist with integrating software-defined radios, communications hardware, embedded systems, networking equipment, and computing platforms into technical solutions.
• Contribute to system architecture development, interface definition, integration planning, and technical implementation activities.
• Support evaluation of communications protocols, waveform implementations, system interoperability, and end‑to‑end system performance.
• Support laboratory development activities including hardware selection, capability planning, system design, and technical trade studies under engineering guidance.
• Perform technical analysis of communications systems and supporting technologies.
• Assist with system testing, experimentation, validation, and technical assessments.
• Document technical findings and communicate results to engineering teams and government stakeholders.
