Job summary

The City of Philadelphia is seeking a Junior Cloud Engineer to support and expand a hybrid cloud/on-premises environment. You will work with IT leaders and engineers to implement cloud-based solutions and to optimize modernization efforts.

The ideal candidate brings AWS experience, a foundation in programming (Python preferred), and a mindset for continuous improvement in a government IT setting. This in-person role offers strong benefits and growth.

Qualifications

• AWS experience required.
• Automating environments using Infrastructure as Code.
• Familiarity with network technologies (VPCs, VPNs, Transit Gateways, Route53, Load Balancers, etc.).
• Understanding of data and data integration concepts (SQL, data governance, enterprise patterns).
• Python experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with architecture and engineering teams to implement cloud-based solutions.
• Manage and govern a multi-account, multi-organization AWS environment.
• Plan and design cloud workloads with a focus on security.
• Document standard practices and procedures across the environment.
• Automate infrastructure configuration and deployment in the development lifecycle.
• Monitor cloud services to control costs and performance.
• Stay updated on industry trends and new services.
