Job summary

City of Philadelphia is seeking a Junior Cloud Engineer to support and expand its cloud practice under the Office of Innovation & Technology. The role focuses on a hybrid cloud/on-premises environment with AWS GovCloud and Commercial Cloud, requiring Python skills and a results-oriented mindset.

Ideal candidates will collaborate with IT leaders and engineers, operate independently, and help modernize city IT while ensuring security and cost control. On-site work is required.

Qualifications

• AWS experience
• Automating environments using Infrastructure as Code
• Familiarity with network technologies (VPCs, VPNs, Transit Gateways, Route53, Load Balancers)
• Cloud architecture design (Well-Architected Framework)
• Understanding of data and data integration concepts
• Python experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with architecture and engineering teams to identify and implement cloud-based solutions.
• Manage a multi-account, multi-organization AWS environment.
• Plan and design cloud workloads with security focus.
• Document standard practices and procedures across the environment.
• Automate infrastructure configuration and deployment in the development lifecycle.
• Monitor and optimize cloud services to control costs and usage.
• Forecast cloud service costs for new workloads.
• Stay current with industry trends and new services.
