Job summary

Patenaude & Felix, APC in California is seeking an Associate Attorney to join our civil litigation team full-time. You will support senior attorneys, draft pleadings, motions, and discovery, and appear in court on routine matters.

The firm offers mentorship, competitive pay, benefits, and opportunities for hands-on trial experience early in your career. Onsite schedule Monday through Friday 8:00 to 5:00, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of civil litigation experience.
• Active California Bar license.
• Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Eagerness to learn, grow, and work collaboratively.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; comfort with legal tech systems.
• Occasional travel for court appearances as needed.

Responsibilities

• Support senior attorneys in handling civil litigation and related matters.
• Draft pleadings, motions, legal correspondence, and discovery documents.
• Appear in court on routine matters and assist with trial preparation and trials.
• Conduct legal research and stay current with applicable statutes and case law.
• Review case files and assist in developing case strategy.
• Maintain case management systems and ensure accuracy of legal documentation.
• Communicate with clients, courts, and opposing counsel under supervision.
• Collaborate with legal staff to meet deadlines and court requirements.
