Join Our Team as a Summer Camp Junior Counselor!

Position: Classifed Staff/School Age Child Care - SACC

About Eagle Summer Day Camp: We offer weekly theme- and activity-based camp experiences on our beautiful campus and through community field trips. Our camp counselors ensure the safety and well-being of campers while leading activities that foster community and memorable experiences.

Description

We provide a fun and memorable summer camp for families within the New Albany-Plain Local School District. Responsibilities include supporting or facilitating activities such as imaginative play, splash days, sports, STEM/STEAM, arts and crafts, and outdoor education. Counselors act as role models, ensuring safety and promoting respect, citizenship, and fun!

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school student in good standing
• At least 16 years old by May 1, 2023
• Experience with elementary-aged children preferred but not required
• Ability to get in the pool
• Availability for training on May 20 and June
• Positive attitude and high energy
• Dependable, cooperative, and pleasant
• Ability to work independently and in teams
• Comfortable working indoors and outdoors
• Commitment to health and safety guidelines

Work Schedule:

• Orientation: Saturday, May 20, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
• Camp setup/training: Saturday, June 3, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
• Camp duration: June 5 - August 7, 2023 (excluding June 19 and July 4), at least 8 of 9 weeks
• Shifts: 1:30 pm - 6:00 pm or 2:30 pm - 6:00 pm

Responsibilities:

• Work at least 8 weeks of camp
• Develop positive relationships with campers
• Ensure safety and confidentiality
• Assist with daily operations and activities
• Support children with special needs as needed
• Follow all camp and school policies
• Participate fully in activities, including water activities
• Supervise children outdoors in various weather conditions
• Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Position involves indoor and outdoor activities, requiring walking, standing, bending, lifting up to 30 pounds, and working in varying noise and temperature conditions. Good vision and hearing are essential for safety and communication.

Compensation & Reporting:

$12.00 per hour, referral bonuses available. Reports to the Program Coordinator and Site Supervisor.
