Cates Control Systems, based in Texas, is seeking an entry-level Buyer to support purchasing activities, vendor communications, and order tracking using Epicor. The role emphasizes learning purchasing processes and internal production requirements.

The position targets individuals with a high school diploma or GED and offers growth through hands-on training, with standard business hours and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior purchasing, inventory, customer service, administrative, industrial distribution, or manufacturing experience preferred.
• ERP experience preferred but not required.
• Microsoft Office experience required.
• Industrial electrical parts knowledge preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Place purchase orders for materials, hardware, software, and supplies using Epicor or approved systems.
• Follow purchasing work instructions and department procedures.
• Confirm purchase order information is complete and accurate before sending to vendors.
• Send purchase orders to vendors and request acknowledgments.
• Enter vendor confirmations and promise dates into Epicor.
• Follow up with vendors on missing acknowledgments, missing promise dates, and basic order status requests.
• Request price, availability, lead time, and order status information from vendors.
• Escalate vendor issues, delays, or unclear responses to Buyer II or the Supplier Relationship Manager / Purchasing Supervisor.
• Maintain accurate purchase order dates, notes, confirmations, and vendor responses in Epicor.
• Assist with vendor price list updates, data entry, purchasing record cleanup, and invoice discrepancy support.
• Complete assigned training profile and demonstrate increasing independence over time.
