Junior Business Analyst – Techno-Functional

Overview

The Junior Business Analyst (Techno-Functional) will support modernization projects by connecting business needs with technology solutions. The role involves gathering requirements, analyzing processes, and supporting Agile sprint activities. Experience in social work or child welfare programs is a plus, helping ensure solutions meet the needs of both technical teams and program staff.

Key Responsibilities

Work with product owners, social workers, and technical teams to gather and document business requirements.

Support discovery sessions to capture current processes and help design future-state workflows.

Write user stories, acceptance criteria, and sprint tasks in line with Agile/Scrum practices.

Participate in stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.

Create process flow diagrams and other documentation to support system changes.

Use JIRA, Confluence, or Azure DevOps to track requirements, backlog items, and sprint progress.

Assist in testing activities, including UAT preparation and defect tracking.

Provide clear communication between business users (including social workers) and technical teams.

Help prepare reports, training guides, and stakeholder materials.

Assist in stakeholder interviews, workshops, and feedback sessions to ensure all voices are represented in requirements gathering.

Assist in documenting and distributing meeting minutes, capturing key discussion points, decisions, action items, and responsible parties.

Collaborate with QA team to define test cases, conduct exploratory testing, and validate system functionality.

Required Skills & Experience

Around 3 years of experience in business analysis.

Exposure to social work, child welfare, or human services programs is preferred.

Knowledge of Agile/Scrum frameworks and sprint delivery.

Strong skills in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).

Experience with process modeling (BPMN) and requirement tracking tools.

Strong communication, listening, and problem-solving skills.

Experience or willingness to learn collaboration tools like Jira & Confluence.

Preferred Skills

Basic knowledge of SQL for simple data checks.

Familiarity with CRM systems.

Exposure to data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI).

Basic understanding of programming or scripting.

Competencies
