Job summary

City of Bellevue is seeking an Entry Inspector, the first level in the Building Inspector class series. This full-time role works under an Inspection Supervisor, gaining on-the-job training in code and plan reading while inspecting to verify conformance with adopted codes and city policies across structural, plumbing, electrical, and site drainage.

Under supervision, you will inspect residential, commercial, and light industrial projects, issue correction notices, participate in preconstruction

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years in a relevant construction field.
• Or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Washington State driver's license and safe driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect a range of residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
• Evaluate conformance with city, state, and national codes.
• Generate correction notices and official documents for customers.
• Participate in re-inspections to ensure completed revisions.
• Attend preconstruction meetings regarding inspections with stakeholders.
• Discuss permits, plans, specifications, and materials with architects and contractors.
• Learn to research new products and materials for code compliance.
• Respond to citizen complaints and perform reinspections.
