Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA is seeking an automotive BIW design engineer to own the design, development, and release of upper body components. You will model parametrically in NX and collaborate with stamping plants, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure manufacturability and performance.

The role requires 1–3 years in automotive sheet metal development, proficiency in CAD/PLM, and knowledge of GD&T, DVP&R, and DFMEA. Onsite work is expected across manufacturing sites in Michigan."

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering or related field.
• 1–3 years in automotive sheet metal development or related area.
• Proficient in CAD software and PLM systems.
• Strong knowledge of metal forming and joining techniques.
• Familiar with GD&T, DFMEA, DVP&R, tolerance stack‑up, and automotive validation testing.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage design, development, and release of BIW upper body components/subassemblies.
• Parametric modeling using NX.
• Coordinate with suppliers and plants to meet manufacturability, cost, and performance goals.
• Develop and manage CBOM and Quadris for subassemblies.
• Create Source Package documentation and lead technical reviews with suppliers and client teams.
• Define and track engineering validation plans (DVP&R, DFMEA, PFMEA) and coordinate testing.
• Provide onsite plant launch support to triage and address launch issues.
• Ensure designs meet standards, performance targets, and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate project status, risks, and deliverables to stakeholders.
