Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking a talented and driven junior-level associate to join their Commercial Litigation and Bankruptcy team. This position offers hands-on, first-chair experience in complex commercial litigation and bankruptcy matters. The associate will handle cases involving distressed debt, real estate and land title disputes, and complex consumer financial services litigation. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a growing practice with significant exposure to state and federal courts.

Location:

  • Hartford, Connecticut

Duties:

  • Handle a diverse caseload involving distressed debt, real estate and land title issues, and complex consumer financial services litigation.
  • Represent clients in bankruptcy matters (experience in bankruptcy is a plus).
  • Draft and file motions, pleadings, and other legal documents.
  • Conduct legal research to support ongoing litigation.
  • Manage case discovery, including e-discovery, depositions, and witness interviews.
  • Appear in state and federal courts, including arguing motions.
  • Take and defend depositions, manage pretrial preparations, and participate in trials.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and participate in strategic case discussions.

Requirements:

  • 1-4 years of experience in commercial litigation or bankruptcy.
  • Admission to the Connecticut Bar is required; dual New York admission is a plus.
  • Strong academic background and excellent writing skills.
  • Experience handling distressed debt, real estate disputes, and/or complex consumer financial services litigation.
  • Eagerness to take on significant responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
  • Motivated to succeed in a growing and dynamic practice.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Connecticut Bar required.
  • Dual admission to the New York Bar preferred but not mandatory.
