Job summary

Old Harbor Solutions in Pittsburgh, PA, seeks an entry level Ballistics Evidence Technician to support NIBIN and IBIS data entry, image analysis, and written reporting. Responsibilities include conducting image reviews, data entry, triage of cartridge casings, and coordinating with law enforcement agencies.

Training will be provided for ATF procedures and systems. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and collaboration with local, state, and federal partners.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizen with valid driver’s license.
• B.S. degree from an accredited college or university preferred; combination of education and experience considered.
• General experience with local, state, or Federal law enforcement is preferred but not required.
• Must be able to complete ATF clearance process.
• Must be willing to provide a DNA sample as part of employment screening.

Responsibilities

• Conduct entries and perform image and correlation reviews on NIBIN equipment after training from ATF or other authorized trainer.
• Enter data into charts, spreadsheets, reports, and/or systems.
• Triage cartridge casings for entry into IBIS.
• Enter evidence into IBIS.
• Perform image and correlation reviews; produce basic analytical products.
• Summarize information in writing and establish rapport with others to accomplish objectives.
• Utilize NESS for daily entry of local RMS event info and reporting results.
• Handle, operate, and test fire firearms and ammunition following all safety procedures.
