Job summary

Navajo Tribal Utility Authority (NTUA) seeks an attorney to support tribal regulatory work and governance initiatives. The role involves researching legal matters, drafting memoranda and briefs, and advising on documents under attorney supervision.

The successful candidate will pursue licensure with the State Bar and Navajo Nation and may travel to meetings and negotiations as needed. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Must have law degree (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Must hold or be able to obtain State Bar Licensure and Navajo Nation Bar Licensure within one year of employment.
• Requires a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Researches and studies legal documents to determine causes of action and supports case development.
• Drafts memoranda, briefs, affidavits, and legislative summaries.
• Drafts pleadings, documents, and correspondence under supervision of attorneys.
• Attends meetings concerning tribal regulatory matters and provides opinions on documents and policies.
• Assists in drafting ordinances and policies in support of Navajo Nation self-governance objectives.
• Maintains confidential files and supports coordination with Navajo Nation Council.
