Job summary

Navajo Tribal Utility Authority is seeking an experienced attorney to provide legal guidance across contracts, leases and employment, and to draft policies and regulatory documents. You will review, research and present opinions on a wide range of issues and prepare litigation materials for tribal, state, or federal courts.

The role requires a JD from an accredited law school, bar admission in AZ/NM/UT or another state and the ability to obtain Navajo Nation Bar within one year, with at least

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Bar admission in AZ, NM, UT or other state; ability to obtain AZ/NM/UT Bar and Navajo Nation Bar within 1 year.
• At least 5 years of legal practice experience in private, public or government sectors.
• Experience in utility law and Navajo Tribal law preferred.
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain required licensures.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal guidance on contracts, proposals, leases and employment.
• Research and prepare opinions on diverse legal issues and pleadings.
• Draft and review policies, regulations, bylaws and other legal documents.
• Draft and present litigation documents for tribal, state or federal courts.
• Negotiate contracts related to construction, power purchases, finance and joint ventures.
• Review contracts and legal documents; research issues and prepare memoranda.
