Job summary

Hawkins Parnell & Young, LLP seeks an Associate Attorney for its New York office with 1–3 years of defense litigation experience, including toxic tort exposure benefits. The ideal candidate is licensed in New York (NJ license preferred) and can handle motions, depositions, and pretrial work as part of a seasoned team.

Responsibilities include managing caseloads, attending depositions and hearings, and drafting briefs and memos while maintaining deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice in New York with good standing.
• New Jersey license strongly preferred in addition to NY.
• 1-3 years’ defense litigation experience; toxic tort is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of litigated claims, preparing for trial and developing defense strategies.
• Attend depositions, hearings, and mediations.
• Analyze discovery, medical records, expert defenses, and motion practice.
• Draft briefs, memos, and client updates.
• Research legal issues and investigate people, businesses, and worksites.
