Junior, Assistant, Associate or Full Specialist- Yue Lab

Department of Physiology

University of California, San Francisco


The Yue Lab in the Department of Physiology at UCSF is seeking a motivated and skilled individual to join as a Junior, Assistant, Associate or Full Specialist. The lab is dedicated to studying how the nervous system communicates with bodily fluids, with a particular focus on signaling at critical brain interfaces.


Area of Specialization / Responsibilities: We are interested in candidates who can perform research independently and collaboratively, including designing, conducting, and analyzing experiments. Candidates should have expertise in one of the following areas:



  • Cell and tissue physiology: Electrophysiology and live imaging in dissociated cells and tissue slices.

  • Biochemistry and cell biology: Western blotting, protein purification, immunohistochemistry, cell culture, etc.


Required Qualifications:



  • Junior Specialist: BA/BS degree in Biological Sciences, Neuroscience, or a related field OR at least four years of research experience. Must have hands- on research experience.


  • Assistant Specialist: Master's degree OR a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Neuroscience, or a related field with three or more years of research experience. Must have significant hands-on experience.


  • Associate Specialist: Master's degree (or equivalent degree) in Neuroscience, Physiology, or other related field OR five to ten years of experience in the relevant specialization, with strong record of independent research and publications.


  • Full Specialist- terminal degree (or equivalent degree) in Neuroscience, Physiology, or other related field OR ten or more years of relevant experience.


  • Candidates must meet the required qualifications at the time of appointment. Candidate's CV/cover letter must state qualifications (or if pending) upon submission.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Assistant Specialist- A Master's degree

  • Associate and Full Specialist- A PhD.
