Job summary

Preply is seeking a Junior Analytics Engineer to own Looker, ensure clean data governance, and empower teams across Product, Growth, Finance, Engineering, and AI to leverage data confidently. This hands-on role combines analytics engineering, governance, and documentation from day one.

The ideal candidate will have SQL skills, an analytical mindset, and a passion for turning data into actionable insights, with experience using Looker and a comfort with AI tools to boost productivity.

• An analytical mindset with ability to interpret what data means beyond retrieval.
• Strong attention to detail and drive to make data organized, reliable, and discoverable.
• Comfortable using AI tools to improve productivity and learning.
• English proficiency at B2 level or above.

Responsibilities

• Own Looker licensing – manage license granting, stay up-to-date with upgrades, revoke unused licenses.
• Classify and organize Looker artifacts – establish governance and reflect it across Looker.
• Create and maintain documentation – produce technical docs, user guides, onboarding materials for data teams.
• Support continuous improvement – identify opportunities, propose improvements, and pilot lightweight innovations.
• Partner with stakeholders across the business – be the go-to person for Looker, helping teams find and use data effectively.

As a Junior Analytics Engineer, you’ll own one of the most widely used pieces of our analytics ecosystem: Looker. You’ll help ensure that more than 900 people across Preply can easily find, understand, and trust the data they use every day. This is a hands‑on role with real ownership from day one, combining analytics engineering, data governance, documentation, and continuous improvement of our self‑service analytics platform.

Please note: This role is open to candidates based in Ukraine. You can work from our Kyiv hub or remotely from anywhere in Ukraine.

What you’ll be doing:

• Own Looker licensing – Manage the license granting process, be the point of contact with Looker’s service, stay up‑to‑date with new Looker upgrades, identify unused licenses and periodically revoke them,
• Classify and organize Looker artifacts – establish clear structure and governance, and reflect it consistently across Looker.
• Create and maintain documentation – produce high-quality technical documentation, user guides, and onboarding materials that help teams work confidently with data.
• Support continuous improvement – identify opportunities, propose improvements, and run lightweight innovations to test new ideas.
• Partner with stakeholders across the business – be the go‑to person for Looker, helping teams find, understand, and use data effectively.

What you need to succeed:

• Working knowledge of SQL and confidence querying and exploring data.
• Understanding of business metrics and how data supports product and business decisions.
• An analytical mindset — you enjoy understanding what data means, not just retrieving it.
• Strong attention to detail and an interest in making data organized, reliable, and easy to discover.
• Hands‑on experience through internships, industry projects, or relevant personal projects. Commercial experience is a plus.
• Comfortable using AI tools to improve productivity and learning.
• English proficiency at B2 level or above.
