Job Title: Programme Junior Analyst Latin America and the Caribbean

Location: Remote - Colombia

Department: LAC

Position reports to: LAC Senior Technical Officer

Salary: USD30K-35K DOE

Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI) started in 2009 as a project of the Network for Sustainable Financial Markets (NSFM), an international network of finance sector professionals, academics, and others dedicated to improving financial market integrity and efficiency. CBI is now the world’s leading organization working to mobilize the largest capital market of all, the $100 trillion global bond market, for climate change solutions. CBI is an investor-focused, not-for-profit organization, whose outputs are an open-source public good.

Our primary workstreams include green bonds standard and certification, green bond data and market analysis, and policy advisory. We have been providing support for green bond market development in various regions/countries including Europe, the US, China, and Latin America.

Climate Bonds is a fast-growing, dynamic NGO driven by a big mission. You will be working within an organization that is leading the development of innovative international climate finance solutions.

Purpose:

The Programme Junior Analyst for Latin America and the Caribbean will support the delivery of key activities in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), with a focus on Colombia, Panama, and Costa Rica, mainly under the Green Climate Fund project for aligning financial flows of the private financial sector with the Paris Agreement climate change goals.

Additionally, the analyst will support the organization in organizing training programmes, events, and maintaining a network of professional relations in Latin America through creating visual and written content.

Duties and responsibilities:

This role requires complete oral and written fluency in English and Spanish; Portuguese is a plus.

  • Deliver high-quality presentations, reports, and research, working closely with the LAC and wider CBI Team.
  • Support research projects, especially focusing on LAC sustainability, climate action, and finance.
  • Manage and analyze large amounts of data effectively.
  • Assist the LAC team in providing technical assistance and engaging with partners and stakeholders for implementing Sustainable Finance Taxonomies.
  • Maintain a network of professional relations in Latin America.
  • Research barriers and opportunities in the local market for leveraging green financial products.
  • Prepare materials for presentations and executive reviews.
  • Schedule and follow-up on calls with partners and stakeholders.
  • Support the delivery of key activities and deliverables under the LAC programme.

Essential qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, or relevant field.
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Canva, and relevant software.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English and Spanish.
  • Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task.
  • Motivated, self-starter, able to work independently.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Receptive to feedback and able to follow instructions.
  • Excellent public relations skills and openness to networking.
  • Experience in relevant field.
  • Passionate about green finance and global issues.
  • Strong research, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.

Desirable qualifications:

  • Knowledge of financial markets, sustainability, or climate change.
  • Experience with Sustainable Finance Taxonomy development and implementation.
  • Experience in banking or insurance sectors.
  • Fluency in Portuguese (oral and written).
