Job Description

The Junior Accountant plays a vital role within the Controllership group, handling activities in the General Ledger, Bitcoin, and Tax areas. This position reports to the Accounting Manager.

This opportunity is mainly targeted at students from: University of Virginia, Johns Hopkins University, Virginia Tech, University of Maryland, George Mason University.

Job Duties (including but not limited to):

• General Ledger:
• Process quarterly intercompany transactions
• Prepare and distribute monthly interest calculations
• Prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations
• Prepare and submit US Government Census Surveys
• Support finance projects requiring technical knowledge, teamwork, problem-solving, and effective communication
• Assist with banking administration and relationships with financial institutions
• Track and report Strategy's digital assets
• Support monthly consolidation process

• Tax:
• Reconcile sales tax accounts and coordinate with external providers for compliance (e.g., sales and use taxes, Canadian HST/QST)
• Prepare estimated payments, extensions, reports, property tax returns, and licenses
• Respond to tax notices, research issues
• Assist with tax audits and inquiries
• Maintain tax schedules

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business (UVA, JHU, VA Tech, Univ MD, Mason), expected graduation May 2025
• Proficiency in MS Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables)
• Detail-oriented with strong documentation skills
• Analytical, research, and effective communication skills
• High ethical standards
• Team player, able to interact across departments
• Highly organized, capable of managing multiple projects under pressure
• Hybrid role: Monday-Thursday, 8:30 am - 6 pm, at our Tysons Corner office
