We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Junior Accountant to perform accounting and financial activities that keep our company running smoothly. The Junior Accountant will report to our Accounting Manager and support with the running of our day-to-day financial operations. This role involves a wide range of tasks, from recording transactions and maintaining ledgers, to preparing and managing accounting schedules, to working with various service vendors, to liaising with our production staff to gather information and identify process improvement opportunities. The ideal candidate is one who continually looks to be timely and accurate in their work, while concurrently seeking opportunities to eliminate inefficiencies, streamline existing processes, and use technology to automate tasks.

This role involves a wide range of tasks, from recording transactions and maintaining ledgers, to preparing and managing accounting schedules, to working with various service vendors, to liaising with our production staff to gather information and identify process improvement opportunities. The ideal candidate is one who continually looks to be timely and accurate in their work, while concurrently seeking opportunities to eliminate inefficiencies, streamline existing processes, and use technology to automate tasks.

Responsibilities

• Keeping track of financial activities with accuracy, efficiency and speed, as well as reconciling data to identify and correct inaccuracies
• Managing invoices and receivables to ensure that payments are made and received on time and without errors
• Thinking analytically and solving problems proactively
• Demonstrating organizational skills with extremely close attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple priorities at once
• Learning new tools and concepts quickly, easily making connections between unrelated ideas, and taking on the challenge of unfamiliar tasks
• Independently exercising good judgment and discretion when managing internal and external information
• Streamlining processes to improve efficiency and provide cross-departmental support as needed
• Contributing positively to team culture and working well under pressure
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent work experience
• 1 to 3 years of general accounting experience, preferably in a creative services business (agency experience is a plus)
• Excellent communication skills and be comfortable working with supervisory and senior level management
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently is critical
• Strong analytical, time management, and problem-solving skills
• A high degree of attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills
• A strong aptitude for identifying ways to streamline processes and improve efficiencies
• A solid understanding of GAAP
• Ownership and pride in your work product
• Experience working with Excel, Quickbooks, and Workamajig (or another ERP)
• Familiarity with sales tax reporting and payroll processing.
