Job summary

Rate, a leading national retail mortgage lender, seeks a Jumbo Non-QM Underwriter to join our tech-driven team. Based in Chicago with nationwide operations, you will underwrite jumbo and non-conforming loans across various programs.

The role requires 5+ years of mortgage underwriting, including jumbo and Non-QM experience, and the ability to assess credit, income and assets while collaborating with originators. Competitive pay with bonus opportunities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of mortgage underwriting experience.
• 5+ years of Jumbo underwriting experience.
• Experience with underwriting to multiple lender guidelines and requirements.
• Knowledge of Non-QM Underwriting requirements, including full doc, DSCR, bank statement loans, and other Alternative Loan Doc products.
• Critically examine credit, income and asset documents and review title policy and appraisals.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite residential loans in compliance with company and investor standards.
• Review loan documentation for accuracy and completeness while coordinating with loan originator or production staff to secure all required documents.
• Involve in multiple mortgage lending types (conventional, government-backed, etc.).
• Assist more senior underwriters on loan exceptions and have authority to withdraw and decline loans.
• Respond to individual and investor audits as needed.
• Navigate all levels of underwriting authority and exception levels.

We are currently seeking a hard-working, dedicated Jumbo Non-QM Underwriter to join our innovative and passionate team.

Pay Range: 85k to 100k + Bonus

Responsibilities:

• As an Underwriter you will be responsible for but not limited to the underwriting of residential loans ensuring compliance with appropriate company and investor standards
• A Mortgage Underwriter will be responsible for examining loan documentations for accuracy and completeness while working with loan originator or production staff to secure all required documents
• Mortgage Underwriters may be involved in one or several types of mortgage lending (conventional, government-backed, etc.)
• You may be required to work with more senior mortgage underwriters on loan exceptions having the authority to withdraw and decline loans
• You may also be required to respond directly to individual and investor audits
• Includes all levels of underwriting authority and exception levels

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of mortgage underwriting experience
• 5+ years of Jumbo underwriting experience
• Experience with underwriting to multiple lender guidelines and requirements
• Knowledge of Non-QM Underwriting requirements. Including but not limited to full doc, DSCR, Bank statement loans, and other Alternative Loan Doc products.
• Critically examine credit, income and asset documents and review title policy and appraisals
