Job summary

Superior Court of California, County of Ventura is seeking a Court Research Attorney to perform advanced legal research and draft memoranda for judicial officers. Under supervision, you will examine statutes, case law, and records to provide reasoned recommendations and writing analyses.

The successful candidate will hold a Juris Doctorate, be admitted to the California Bar for at least three years, and demonstrate strong writing, analytical, and communication skills to support court operations

Qualifications

Juris Doctorate from an accredited institution.
At least two years post-bar experience in legal research and writing.
Active California State Bar membership for three years.
Strong knowledge of court procedures, evidentiary rules, and legal ethics.

Responsibilities

Reviews and summarizes arguments, evidence, and procedural history on matters submitted to the Court.
Identifies and analyzes legal authorities relevant to the disposition of matters.
Prepares memoranda to judicial officers.
Responds to inquiries and attends hearings as needed.
Advises judges and staff on matters before the Court.
Conducts legal research and presents written analyses.
May present oral arguments to judicial officers.
Other duties as needed.
