Graduates of JTCC’s high performance program have earned more than $25 million in college athletic scholarships, and a few alumni of extraordinary talent and motivation are playing professional tennis, including World #15, Frances Tiafoe. JTCC offers a wide range of tennis programming including free, grassroots instruction for youth in low-income communities; all levels of junior and adult instruction; and adaptive tennis clinics for wheelchair users, Special Olympians, and military veterans.

About the Role

JTCC is seeking enthusiastic Summer Tennis Coaches for a paid internship opportunity to learn from world-class Junior Development Coaches while gaining hands-on experience in tennis instruction and program management.

Job Responsibilities

On-Court Instruction (80%)

• Provide tennis lessons for student athletes
• Follow guided training sessions and produce training plans
• Establish a fun and engaging environment for students
• Motivate students through encouragement and positive feedback
• Create meaningful connections with students

Program Support (20%)

• Assist with USTA tournaments
• Support JTCC events
• Actively promote all JTCC programs and lessons
• Work across all aspects of the tennis business

Administrative Tasks (10%)

• Maintain clear communication with students and staff
• Deliver information clearly, concisely, and timely
• Problem-solve day-to-day operational challenges

Preferred Qualifications

• Collegiate playing or coaching experience
• Enthusiastic and energetic teaching style
• Problem-solving ability
• Valid driver’s license (preferred due to multiple locations)
• Seasonal position: June 2nd, 2025 – August 24th, 2025
• Minimum commitment of 8 weeks required
• Must be available July 7-July 11 and August 4-August 8
• Multiple Locations Across the DMV: College Park, MD, Potomac, MD, and Northern Virginia
• Application deadline: March 1, 2025, or until positions are filled
• Minimum 30 hours guaranteed per week

Compensation

• $25/hour for up to 40 hours per week
• $37.50/hour for overtime (41+ hours)
• Housing available at $250 per week (deducted from weekly pay)
