Job summary

Gwinnett County Public Schools is seeking a dedicated JROTC instructor to lead the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps program in the school, delivering high-quality classroom instruction and mentoring cadets through a curriculum aligned with GCPS and service branches.

The role requires an Associates Degree and a record of exemplary military service, with emphasis on leadership development, organizational skills, and collaboration with colleagues.

Qualifications

• Must hold or be eligible for a permit issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission
• Associates Degree in related field is required
• 20 years retired non-commissioned officer and drawing retirement pay is required
• Exemplary military record required
• Strong organizational skills and ability to lead and motivate cadets

Responsibilities

• Conduct the JROTC program in accordance with applicable law, Armed Services, and Cadet Command regulations and GCPS policies
• Demonstrate quality classroom instruction and mentor cadets according to curriculum
• Participate in professional development and school activities
• Plan lessons for all curriculum elements and use effective instructional strategies
• Assess cadet performance and maintain grade records
• Lead and train cadets to optimize leadership learning opportunities
• Counsel students regarding academic performance and enlistment opportunities
• Recruit and retain new students and plan marketing for the JROTC program
• Prepare annual training plans and supervise enrollment records
• Coordinate extracurricular cadet events and oversee logistics

Education

Associates Degree in related field

Strong organizational skills
