Soddy Daisy High School is a 9-12 school located in Soddy Daisy, TN, just north of the Chattanooga area. Responsibilities

The following duties are typical for this position. Omissions do not exclude similar or related work. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Instruct JROTC cadets at the assigned high school in accordance with weekly training schedules and military department procedures. Report directly to the JROTC Department Head.
  • Maintain knowledge of academic and integrated-curricular activities within the JROTC program, including reviewing, studying, and understanding the Program of Instruction (POI), and remaining proficient in classroom technology.
  • Ensure qualification in adventure training activities, coaching teams such as color guard, drill team, rifle team, or adventure team, using personal experience and military manuals.
  • Stay current with military doctrine and operational procedures by reading professional publications.
  • Demonstrate professional standards including appearance, bearing, and motivation to positively influence students and represent the program well.
  • Deliver academic instruction aligned with lesson plans, administer and analyze tests, and maintain student performance records.
  • Conduct all adventure training activities safely, following risk assessments and safety protocols.
  • Perform duties related to color guard, drill team, rifle team, or adventure team coaching as directed.
  • Complete administrative duties, including property management, communication with parents, and participation in fundraising efforts.
  • Report absences promptly and communicate effectively with the Senior JROTC Instructor.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Education, and Experience:

  1. Federal Certification as a Junior ROTC Instructor.
  2. Associate’s degree or higher, discipline unspecified.
  3. Retired from the U.S. Army as Sergeant First Class (E-7) or higher.
  4. Other qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent.

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong planning, organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, and time management skills.
